About the event
Members of Justice League of Greater Lansing Michigan are invited to the joint worship service with Union Missionary Baptist Church and First Presbyterian Church of Lansing:
- Sunday, May 26, 11 a.m.
- 500 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
This joint worship service with a primarily Black church and a primarily white church is an important step for the Justice League and its supporters.
Our mission is to repair the breach caused by the historical damage of slavery and its aftermath. We seek to facilitate reparations between white houses of worship and African Americans. By doing so we WILL increase wealth equity for the African American community.
The Justice League rarely gets to commune with Black congregations or communities. Generally, we send messages, speak indirectly to folk, or communicate through social media. Sunday is an opportunity for genuine communication and interaction between the two groups We can communicate in real time.
- It is a chance for members to demonstrate their commitment to repentance, forgiveness, reconciliation and repair.
- Our mission is essentially accomplished through interactions like this one.
- The goal was never charity. Never a one and done. The aim was always to have an ongoing relationship with the community that has been harmed.
- This is an excellent opportunity to build relationships, develop programs and projects that bring the two communities together and allow the Beloved Community to thrive and grow.
- Real heartfelt relationships.
- This will not be accomplished in this one service, however, it’s a great start.
- It is a good foundation to do more.
We hope to see you at Union Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday.
