About the event
Join Us in Celebrating Three Impactful Years!
The Justice League of Greater Lansing Michigan (JLGLM) invites you to commemorate our journey to "repair the breach" caused by slavery and its lasting effects.
Our Mission:
Since our founding in 2021, JLGLM has been dedicated to addressing the disparities rooted in slavery through a faith-based model for reparations. We focus on bridging the racial wealth gap between Black and white residents in the Greater Lansing Area by fostering relationships and facilitating reparations in education, home ownership, and entrepreneurial opportunities.
Our Achievements:
In 2024, we proudly raised over $400,000, distributing $50,000 in educational scholarships to 10 deserving college-bound high school graduates. These students will be honored at our Fall Celebration, recognizing their achievements and the community’s efforts in making reparations a reality.
Special Guest Speaker:
We are honored to welcome Reverend Jihyun Oh, the newly elected Stated Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), as our keynote speaker. As the first Korean American, the second woman, and the first woman of color in this prestigious position, Rev. Oh's leadership marks a historic moment. We look forward to her inspiring words as we continue our mission for racial and social justice.
Why Attend:
This event is a momentous occasion to reflect on our achievements and renew our commitment to the ongoing struggle for justice and equity. Join us in celebrating this significant milestone in our journey to "repair the breach…right the wrong."
